We have over a thousand books from the UK as a start for our academy. Our library includes books for all ages, even some for grown-ups! We believe a school library is central to learning and plays a key role as a place for encouraging innovation, curiosity, and problem solving. Libraries are a catalyst for literacy, reading and for teaching and scaffolding inquiry learning. Easy access to books makes a difference to students’ understanding and achievement and provides support for teaching and learning throughout the academy.
Like any school library, ours plays a key role in the cultural and social life of the academy. It can be a central point for engagement with all kinds of reading, cultural activities, access to information, knowledge building, deep thinking and lively discussion.
All our pupils will borrow a book of their choice once a week while visiting the library section as part of our learning programme which aims to enrich students’ reading and build their confidence as library users.
